This blog is really all about Jaydon. He's undeniably the most interesting one of the three of us, so here's an update on what our little guy is up to these days...about 36" (tall enough to turn a lightswitch in our house on and off) and 28 lbs.
Jaydon is described by his friends as mellow and easy-going. We would describe him as high energy, independent, and very focused. And he always has a good time. He talks very well (in complete sentences) and let's you know what he's thinking most of the time. Some phrases we hear very often these days are "What's that?", "Ready to eat", "Go outside", "Go for a ride", "Mommy dance", "Daddy dance", and "Jaydon dancing".
Most of you already know that he is crazy about vehicles of all types - cars, trucks, construction equipment, farm equipment...you name it! He is super crazy over tractors. In fact, at naptime and bedtime, he always sleeps with two fairly large toy tractors in his crib - it can get pretty crowded. He can name just about any type of vehicle out there, including forestry equipment. And in Jaydon's world, cranes are rocketships. We haven't been able to convince him otherwise. Cranes do look a lot like rocketships.
He has a fascination right now with exhaust pipes and "that pulls wagon" aka a hitch. We must check out at least a few exhaust pipes and hitches in the parking lot while we are out and about and he points them out while we are driving. His fascination extends to the smoke billowing from trains and smoke stacks from buildings - you get the idea. Drains he likes too.
He loves waterfalls, water fountains, playing in water, splashing in water...all things water. The practical translation is that he's a very eager helper when it comes to doing laundry and dishes. He makes for a very good helper at those tasks and helps us cook as well. It's a way we can be productive and have fun together.
Jaydon loves reading books and we have been library regulars since he was probably 6 months old. The past few days his favorite book has been Dr. Suess's ABC's, meaning we usually read it a few times before naptime and bedtime each day.
He loves to dance. He'll get the groove anywhere there's music - grocery stores, restaurants, the post office. Probably his favorite CD right now is Marvelous Day by SteveSongs (http://www.stevesongs.com/). We dance to "Fast Monkey" a lot! You should check it out if you get a chance...it's fun for the whole family!
Jaydon is a good jumper, too - hopefully we can get video of him jumping and dancing to share with you. He also is into building ramps, bridges, and tunnels, stacking things as high as they can go, and hiding anywhere he can fit himself.
We could go on and on...2 year olds are quite busy. It's truly a gift to be able to watch, and be a part of, him growing, learning, and just simply having fun.
