A Walk in the Woods

Last Wednesday our playgroup visited Northwest Park. One of the highlights of our visit was a walk through the woods. The colored leaves scattered on the ground and the tall trees above us made for a beautiful backdrop. There's also no better place than the woods to find sticks and practice your golf swing! Jay and I lagged behind the group, so he would have the freedom to swing.

Besides the walk, we enjoyed a class on reptiles, got to touch a live snake and turtle. We spotted painted turtles "in the wild" (in a pond on the property). Then we had a picnic lunch and the kids played on the playground.

Did I mention this park is AWESOME?! It's about a half hour away from us, so not a place we would visit all the time, but we'll at least plan a trip back in the spring when the maple syrup is being made. They have a fully operational Maple Sugar House. Thanks Bev, Henry, Andrew, and Sarah for introducing us to this place.
