Boston Adventures

We've made numerous trips to Boston this year (since the weather turned warm), yet I've never gotten my act together to get a post in about our wonderful visits. I was determined to do so this time, even if it comes so late.

Our home away from home in Boston is at Jewel and Henry's. We've made much use of their spare bedroom and are so happy that we can stay with them. Not only are they wonderful hosts, their apartment is a superb jumping off point to explore the city. Our last trip came the last weekend in July.

First stop...watching Henry at a Soccer Tournament, a picnic lunch, and throwing around the frisbee. It was a gorgeous day for all these activities. After watching some of Henry's game, Jaydon and Brian were off to throw the frisbee around. Jay's frisbee throws were all over the place, but he was not discouraged. He was having too much fun. By the end of it all, Jay was able to make some pretty good passes. He always amazes us with his determination. He wanted nothing to do with catching the frisbee though. I must admit that I can get a little nervous about catching a frisbee when it's coming at me fast, so I see where he's coming from. No matter...he was happy having it thrown to him and chasing it down wherever it landed.

Pre-Game and Post Game Pictures...Henry's team won their last game of the day!

Next up...meeting the newest Masterwong, Quinn, and enjoying a BBQ with our friends in Boston. Unfortunately, I didn't get any clear shots with Baby Quinn (but there's always fun pictures to check out at the Masterwong Blog). Instead, here's Jay sporting his city look on the way to their house.

The next day we spent walking around the city. We hopped on the subway (a Jaydon favorite activity) and headed to Fanueil Hall. There's nonstop commentary from Jaydon while riding the subway..."did you see that light"..."that was fast"..."there's goes another train"..."now we are going through a tunnel"...never a moment of silence and always expressed with excitement and awe. He gets lots of smiles from strangers on the train - unusual for Boston, eh?

We lunched at Joe's by the Waterfront and had the perfect table outdoors with views of the harbor. Here's Jay and Tita Jewel being silly.

Jay (and Henry) enjoyed getting wet in one of the fountains along the harborside. We didn't have a spare change of clothes for Jaydon (or Henry), but we figured why spoil the fun.

They could air dry on our way to the North End where we went for a treat at Mike's Pastry.

Usually it's very difficult to tear Jay away from any fun activity or place. Boston is an exception because all we have to say is, "Jaydon, are you ready to ride the subway?". On this particular trip Jaydon told us, "I want to ride the train forever". Consequently, we run into trouble when we have to explain why we can't ride the train longer. Then we usually have to explain why we can't take a bus ride either (another favorite activity).

That pretty much wraps up our adventures this trip...easy going and just plain fun. Jaydon continues to be a stellar road tripper, so our drives to and from Boston are always very smooth. For our drive home, we usually depart close to Jaydon's bedtime. Jay gets in his PJ's before we leave. We bring him a cozy blanket and a cuddly friend to snuggle with and in no time he's off to dreamy land. Can't wait for our next trip!
