Connecticut has really grown on us. It's a pretty cool place to live. It's almost just right if only the winters were shorter and not as cold, and if Nana and Pops and Grandma and Grandpa were closer. Surprisingly, the winters have become more bearable and are sometimes even fun. Unfortunately, we won't get to see the Grandparents nearly as much as we would like, but I believe we'll be calling Connecticut home for awhile.
When we moved here from Somerville seven years ago (Wow! I can't believe it's been seven years already!), we thought we wanted "country" living...more green and less pavement, so that's where we bought our home. Turns out we think a more urban setting is a better fit for us, closer to stuff and places within walking distance (parks, shops, restaurants...)...hmmm...more like our apartment in Somerville. After talking about moving for years and scoping out neighborhoods and various towns, we've settled on a town with a good blend of neighborhood, open space, and city atmosphere. It has great schools and we'd have good friends close by. The only thing left to do is sell our house, so....drum roll please...our house went up for sale last week. Now we wait, hope and pray. This waiting part is no fun!
One of the last things I did to ready our house was to take down family pictures...that's when it hit me that a move will be bitter and not just sweet. This is Brian and I's first house, the home Jaydon (and Ellie) has grown up in (all 3 1/2 years of it), and the longest I've ever been at a single address. I will miss all the familiar and friendly faces in town, the beautiful night skies, and the quiet and calm of our neighborhood.
Last week, when I told Jay that our realtor was coming over to take photos of our house so we could sell it, Jay said,
"But I don't want to sell our house. I want to stay here."
No doubt this will be an emotional process for us all.
