Volcano Model No. 1

Jaydon's friend, Anne, has an interest in volcanoes similar to his, so we planned and completed our first volcano model during her visit last Tuesday (October 13, 2008). As I prepped the stage, Jay and Anne worked on Play-Doh creations.

The kids were excited but had some understandable concerns. Jaydon, concerned about scorching the place asked,
"It's not magma, Mom? It's not magma?" And Anne, in preparation for the "eruption", covered her ears.

Once completed, however, they were both relieved and happy with the results. Jaydon observed, "It's bubbles...not magma." Whew!

This wasn't quite as cool or as dramatic as I had hoped, but rest assured this will not be our last volcano model. I'm on the search for other eruption recipes!
