The Human Alarm

"I need to go POTTYYYYYYYY!!!!!" - a gleeful sounding Jaydon yelled from his room at 6:35am this morning.

He held the "EEEE!" sound until I showed up in his room. Brian and I couldn't help but smile. Sure to his word, Jay took care of business after I escorted him to the bathroom.

If you remember from a previous blog, Jay's potty trained. The only time he wears a diaper is at night for bedtime. It's extremely rare for him to wake up with a wet diaper. In the morning, even though he's in a diaper, he tells us when he needs to go potty, and we've always been surprised that he doesn't need to go potty immediately after he wakes up. This morning was the first time that a trip to the bathroom was THE first thing on his agenda. Another thing he's really good at is staying in his bed until we come get him or we tell him he can get out of bed, thus the shouting from his room rather than coming to get Brian or I. Although we think he's ready for underwear at night, he's been choosing a diaper over underwear. We can't wait for our official diaper retirement party, but we don't mind doing it on Jay's terms. We're just so happy with the stage we're at. By the way, Jay's been wearing underwear at nap time for a while with no issues.
