Nana's Visit

When we told Jaydon Nana was coming for a visit, he asked, "Nana's coming to my house?" We replied, "Yes!" And there was much rejoicing!

We picked up Nana from the airport last Thursday and said our goodbyes just yesterday. It was a picture perfect Fall weekend, and we had a wonderful time.

One of the highlights of the weekend was going apple picking at Lyman Orchards. It was just as beautiful as we remember from last year, and the apples were just as YUMMY! The only bit of trouble we ran into was that most of the apples were very high (that's what we get for coming in October). When we went last year (mid-September), the low hanging apples were plentiful (to the point that it looked like the tree branches would break from the weight of the apples), and they were just the right height for Jaydon. Not to worry, though, we were able to overcome and enjoy.

I picked Macouns (my favorite). Brian picked Jonagolds. Jaydon found something else very cool to pick at the orchard - DANDELIONS! This kid can find dandelions ANYWHERE!

A visit with Jaydon isn't complete without GOLF. During Nana's visit, we took a trip to the driving range, where Jaydon practiced swinging his new three wood. Then there was lots of golf at home. Indoors there was putting. Outdoors Jay spent hitting balls back and forth, back and forth, with Nana (Brian and I got a break).

Speaking of golf, here's some funny and new things Jaydon said while Nana was here. To help you understand where much of this comes from, I should note that we have several of the tournaments from this year's Fedex Championship recorded on our DVR, which Jaydon watches almost daily.

1. Nana and Jaydon were putting in our living room when he told her, "I want to play on the PGA tour - the Fedex Championship".

2. We dropped off a package in a Fedex drop box while Nana was here, and Jay said, "That's for the PGA Tour". At first, we had no clue what he was talking about. Then the light bulb went off and it all made sense...because of the the Fedex Championship. That's good marketing, but I'm sure Jaydon isn't the demographic they're targeting.

3. We went out for pizza and our waitress brought out one of those metal pizza stands. She put it on the table and Jaydon said, "It's the Fedex Cup". We all looked at each and said, "huh?!". Then we realized that the pizza stand looks strikingly similar to the trophy awarded for the Fedex Cup (it looks like a trophy anyways). Golf really is everywhere!

Here's a couple of firsts for Jaydon while Nana was here:

1. He played his first board game - HiHo Cheerio! I didn't participate, so I don't know exactly how much game playing went on. All I know is that Jaydon was anxious to play again and again.

2. He ate his first scoop of ice cream out of a cone. The fact that every other bite he took ended up with ice cream on his nose didn't bother him one bit.

We miss you already, Nana, and can't wait until we see you again!
