Since we're on the topic of sports, here's another bit of news...
Our basketball play has slowed in the recent months. When we have played, Jaydon would mostly tip/dunk the ball to get it through the hoop. He hasn't been too successful with throwing the ball through the hoop, especially since he likes the hoop at its highest setting. At its highest setting, Jaydon can just get the tips of his fingers over the top of the rim, with his arm fully stretched and standing on his tippy-toes.
Tonight was different...Jaydon asked to play basketball, so we did. Then he proceeded to surprise me with his skills! He was throwing balls left and right (literally) and making all kinds of baskets. I should add that he missed a lot, too, but he did so with flare! :) Unfortunately, Brian had to work late tonight, so he wasn't able to witness our little superstar in action. He would've been so proud! I'm sure Jaydon will be thrilled to play with Brian first chance he gets.
Here's a few things which likely contributed to tonight's success:
1. We do a lot of catching and throwing these days. Jaydon does pretty well catching, as long as you throw the ball somewhat decently. And he actually can aim the ball now (except when he gets distracted :).
2. He seems more coordinated and in control of his limbs.
3. He's discovered how to use some of his strength.
4. He's learned to throw overhanded, and he can do it pretty well. He used to only throw underhanded.
5. He's taller. He just keeps growing and growing.
6. Perhaps it's because the NBA Finals begin tomorrow, and there's been a lot of basketball watching by certain someones in our house. Go Celtics!
It's amazing how things just seem to happen overnight!
