Goodnight and Goodbye Diapers!

We officially said goodbye to diapers on the night of Jaydon's 3rd Birthday! Yippee! WOO-HOO! It went something like this:

Me: Jay, would you like to wear underwear to bed tonight? Or a diaper?
Jay: Underwear! I'm three, so I don't need a diaper. I'm a big boy!

We've been waiting for this day a long time. We thought he was ready to give up his night-time diaper months ago, but bedtime was the one and only time during the day that Jay still wanted to wear a diaper. "Ready" meaning that 99.9% of the time he had been waking up with a dry diaper and, even though he was wearing a diaper, he would tell us when he needed to go potty and then use the potty accordingly. This made me wonder how many times we should re-use a "clean" diaper, because in the morning we would take Jay's "clean" diaper off and put him in underwear. I could go at most 2 or maybe 3 days before it started to make me feel weird about letting him wear a used (albeit "clean") diaper. It also just doesn't feel right to throw a clean (albeit "used") diaper away in the trash. Anyways, we didn't feel the need to push him on the underwear, but we had been telling him for at least a month or so that when he turned three he could wear underwear to bed because he would be a big boy. Who knew that this would actually turn out the way we had hoped! Awesome!

The recent potty milestones have made our lives that much easier and we couldn't be happier! We don't have to mess with diapers on our trip to Florida nor do we have to worry about using public restrooms while we travel to Orlando (at the airport or on the flight). Awesome!

On a sidenote...besides underwear, Jaydon decided he had to sleep with a set of bowling pins he had gotten as a birthday present from his Nana - he was all giddy about it. He slept with all six of the pins that night.

He picks the oddest things to sleep with sometimes. The next night after his birthday he wanted to sleep with a lava rock (it's about the size of an acorn) that he had gotten from a friend of ours...so goofy!
