Santa Comes Early Part I - The Wood Floor

Santa came a little early for Brian and I this Christmas by way of a hardwood floor. We put in a wood floor in the dining room as our big Christmas gift this year. Our goal was to have it done in time for Jaydon's Birthday party and, except for some wood putty and additional touch-up paint, our goal was met. We love how it turned out!

Brian wanted to do the project himself, so Jaydon and I were with him 100%. We weren't sure how things would go with Jaydon around, but things moved along really well. Jay had a blast laying out pieces of wood, and he was a happy helper whenever called upon. One of his favorite "tools" was the measuring tape.













We rented a manual nailer for the floor. It was loud!










A couple of nights, after Jaydon went to bed and was asleep, Brian and I continued to work on the floor. We were amazed to find that our loud banging didn't bother him for the first few hours of his sleep. By 10pm, however, we had to shut down shop because it was evident that the noise was affecting him.
