For the past couple months, Jaydon has been on a meat strike of sorts. There are some exceptions, but they are few. Previous to this so-called "meat strike", he was happy eating almost any type of meat we put before him - chicken, turkey, fish, steak, pork. You wouldn't believe how much chicken he could eat when he was just a year old.
I'm happy to report that the tide has appeared to have turned! Recently, Jaydon's been trying the "meats" we put on his plate. Not only is he trying them, but for the most part, he's enjoying them too. The other day we all had pork ribs, and tonight he ate a nice portion of marinated chicken breast along with the rest of his meal.
Brian and I have become so accustomed to him simply ignoring the meat we put on his plate, that when we see him take that first bite or two, we can't help but look over at each other in astonishment and delight.
Over the past couple months, Jaydon has also been very resistant to new foods. We don't know what caused it, but we're happy to report that Jaydon appears to have taken a turn here as well. He's been trying all sorts of "new" foods ("new" includes foods that he's liked in the past, but for whatever reason, was avoiding). Some things he likes and some he doesn't. One example of "likes it" is pizza. Since we decided it was ok for Jaydon to have cheese, we've tried and tried to get him to eat pizza (not just the crust). It was a very exciting day when Jaydon had his first bite of pizza, then another bite and another and another. It was so exciting that I noted the exact day - April 18th. Hurray! Another simple meal we can all eat together!
I should note that we're fortunate we don't struggle with vegetables. Jaydon has, and still does, love vegetables (and fruits) of all kinds.
So here's the challenge we face everyday: Prepare balanced, healthy, tasty meals that we all can enjoy. Easy and quick, simple low-cost ingredients, and minimal cleanup is preferred. Please send your recipes, suggestions, tips....much thanks in advance!
