King of the Mountain

You'll have to use your imagination on this one because, unfortunately, I did not take any pictures.

We had a BIG pile of topsoil delivered last week - 18 yards to be exact - the pile was maybe up to my shoulders and had quite a footprint. Armed with two shovels, two rakes, two wheelbarrows, and our secret weapon, Shawn Kelly (Thank you soooo much, Shawn, for your help!), we were able to finish spreading the topsoil (over about 2000 SF) in one day. After the topsoil, we applied a layer of compost, then grass seed and straw. Now we water and pray for grass to grow!

We hoped Jaydon would play and stay somewhat occupied while we worked. It couldn't have worked out any better than it did. Jaydon had a fantastic time playing in the big pile of dirt. First, he scooped dirt with us, using his very own shovel. Then he managed to climb the pile of dirt, and thus was proclaimed "King of the Mountain". It was a quite a sight seeing him on the big mound! Then he discovered he could slide down the dirt - on his belly! Fortunately, we persuaded him that sliding down on his bottom was just as much fun. We all walked away from the job dirty, but Jaydon won the prize for dirtiest (not surprising!).

All in all, the day was a great success. Grow grass grow!
